How to Make Homemade Caramel Popcorn

Just like those fall fairs, you can have deliciously sweet caramel popcorn made in minutes so you can enjoy it while watching your favorite spooky movies!

  •  You can use homemade popcorn straight from the kernels if you wish.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature to keep the caramel from going hard.

Caramel Popcorn

How to make homemade caramel popcorn

Ingredients
  

  • 10 cups popcorn premade, or about 2 bags popped, carefully sorted and kernels removed
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda

Instructions
 

  • Layer the popcorn on a large baking sheet covered with parchment paper, and set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter.
  • Add in the brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt.
  • Heat over medium heat, to boiling. Boil 4-5 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and carefully add the vanilla extract. Stir.
  • Add the baking soda, and stir again. Caramel should be light and frothy.
  • Allow the caramel to cool just slightly, and pour over the popcorn.
  • Carefully toss the popcorn with a plastic spoon or spatula, to coat the popcorn with the caramel.
  • Allow the popcorn to set and cool completely.
  • Enjoy!
