Halloween Jello Shot Ingredients
- Unflavored Gelatin
- Water
- Vanilla Vodka
- Orange and Black Gel Food Coloring
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Halloween M&M’s
- Halloween Sprinkles
- Reddi-Whip Whipped Cream
Equipment needed
- 2 oz Plastic Shot Glasses
- Baking Sheet
- Injector (a turkey baster works too)
Things to Note
- Do not add whipped cream to the top of your shots if you’re not serving them right away.
- Don’t try and add a new layer until the layer below it is solid. If it’s runny at all, it will make the colors mix.
- You can use other means to get the liquid in the cups. However, I have not found anything that works as quickly or cleanly as the injector.
- Add the M&M’s right before serving. Otherwise, the condensation from the fridge will cause them to melt and make a mess on the jello shots.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance can I make these?
You can make these 2-3 days in advance. Just add the whipped cream and M&M’s right before serving.
Can I use other types of alcohol?
You can use any vodka or alcohol you prefer, just don’t go over ¾ cup alcohol in each layer as it won’t solidify if you do. Vanilla vodka, white rum, tequila and gin are all great options.
How do I transfer them to the fridge to cause the jello to set?
The best way I’ve found to transfer jello shots to the fridge is to place them on a cookie sheet (you can cover it with aluminum foil for easy clean up) and then place the baking sheet into the fridge.
Can I use a different color?
Yes! You can certainly use any colors of jello you’d like. Just keep in mind, you’ll want to use a clear alcohol to achieve bright colored layers of jello.
How to Make Halloween Jello Shots
Line your jello shot cups up on a baking sheet that will fit them.
In a medium sized bowl, add the water, and sprinkle the Gelatin on the top, and allow it to bloom, following the directions on the package. Stir well to blend.
Add the Vodka, and stir again.
Divide the Gelatin into three smaller bowls.
In one bowl, add the Orange Food Coloring Gel.
In one of the other bowls, add the Sweetened Condensed Milk, and in the last bowl, add the Black Food Coloring Gel.
Fill the shot glasses 1/3 full with the Black Gelatin, and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour, until the Gelatin has set up.
After the Gelatin has set, remove from the Refrigerator, and add the White layer, filling another 1/3 of the shot glass, making it 2/3 full. Place the shot glasses back in the Refrigerator for 1 hour to let the White Layer set.
Remove the shot glasses when the White layer is set, and fill the rest of the way with the Orange layer, and place back in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
When ready to serve, add whipped cream to the top of the glasses, and sprinkle Halloween sprinkles, and M&M’s on the top to decorate.
Serve and Enjoy!
